“Complementary Colors Cat” is the third in a series of cat quilts I did for an international quilt group called Fifteen by Fifteen. The series is based on my photo of Stripes, my tabby cat who died this year. The challenge was to use opposite colors on the color wheel using any technique. I chose to make this quilt a collage. Although a purple cat is outlandish, I think this version looks quite a lot like Stripes. Her yellow eyes are piercing and bright, just like the eyes of my feline friend when she was alive and happy.
The other quilts in the series are “Black and White Cat,” “Abstract Cat,” and “Scrappy Collage Cat.”
