Palms at the Kinneret

Width:56 cm (22 in)
Height:61 cm (24 in)
Techniques:Elements sewn on buckram mesh, snippets, free motion quilting, hand bound
Materials:Cotton batik fabric, Buckram mesh, cotton/polyester batting, cotton and polyester threads, fusing material
Colors:Greens, blues, brown, orange, sky blue
Artist Statement:I tried my hand at texture on this quilt. Maya Schonenberger introduced me to buckram, which is used like a stabilizer for lots of tiny bits and snippets of fabric. Once sewn, I could place my palm trees anywhere I wanted on the quilt. To give depth and dimension to the mountains, I used Patsy Thompson’s Texture Magic. It’s a very tactile quilt without boundaries.
