| Artist Statement: | A grandmother is lighting candles for the Sabbath. Hanging on the wall in the background is a charcoal portrait by her granddaughter, Tali Perlman Ohana. In the scene, the woman’s late husband and the puppets are indeed “watching over” her. Memorializing the story of this photo was very important to the family. When the family was presented with the quilt, they were moved to tears. They said, “Cindy’s quilt captured the essence of the subjects and particularly ‘nailed’ the glow of Dad’s face!” — Reference photo by Alissa Perlman |
