Width: 38 cm (15 in)
Height: 38 cm (15 in)
Technique: Raw-edge applique, free-motion quilting, hand bound
Materials: Cotton batik fabric, tulle, cotton/polyester batting, cotton and polyester threads, fusing material, stabilizer
Colors: Orange, yellow, grey
Artist Statement: The Israel Quilters Association was challenged to make unique quilts from a fat quarter of the same fabric we were given.
Inspired by the brightly colored fabric, which made me think of bird feathers, I went to the pet store and photographed a parrot. Guided by the fabric’s pattern, I cut feathers from the fabric and created a quilt of the parrot.
