Artist Statement:	This quilt is based on a photo I snapped of a litter of adorable kittens that we found and adopted. They used to cuddle together and this time they all gathered in their water bowl. I am a "cat lady" and I can't resist saving and raising orphaned kittens that pull on my heartstrings.

Artist Statement:	People and also animals have been deeply affected by the coronavirus pandemic. I wanted this layered collage portrait, which shows an elephant in captivity, who is alone and lonely, staring at the viewer from behind bars -- Caged In -- to raise an awareness of animal rights and the treatment of all animals by evoking shock from the viewer.

Artist Statement:	A Photoshoot, in my mind, is an active scene that is frozen in time. While at the zoo my son-in-law witnessed a scuffle between two pelicans. One pelican had a fish in its mouth and the fish slipped out. A second pelican waiting on the side stepped in and caught the fish. The struggle took place in an instant. It was a small event to the observer but an enormous incident to the birds. The fish didn’t have a chance in this combat zone! Such drama! I based my quilt on a photo of the scene, which was taken by Yosef Zuckerman.

Monkey Business

Artist Statement:	This monkey lives in the safari in Tel Aviv where he can roam freely. He was very playful and I caught him hanging out in the trees with his friends. He has a bit of an exasperated expression though. Maybe his kids were driving him mad or maybe a visitor to the safari upset him. He was probably ready for a nap and I bet he was disturbed by some noise. In any event, he came by to see what was going on outside his habitat. He sat down beside this tree and just stared back at us.

Artist Statement:	"Scrappy Collage Cat" is an addition to my Cat Series art quilts. I chose to make this quilt a multi-colored collage. Although outlandish, I think this version looks quite a lot like my tabby cat, Stripes. Her green eyes came out bright and lifelike, just like the eyes of my feline friend when she was alive and happy. The other quilts in the series are "Black and White Cat", "Complementary Colors Cat" and "Abstract Cat."

Complementary Colors Cat

Artist Statement:	"Complementary Colors Cat" is the third in a series of cat quilts I did for an international quilt group called Fifteen by Fifteen. The series is based on my photo of Stripes, my tabby cat who died this year. The challenge was to use opposite colors on the color wheel using any technique. I chose to make this quilt a collage. Although a purple cat is outlandish, I think this version looks quite a lot like Stripes. Her yellow eyes are piercing and bright, just like the eyes of my feline friend when she was alive and happy. The other quilts in the series are "Black and White Cat," "Abstract Cat," and "Scrappy Collage Cat."

Artist Statement:	"Abstract Cat" is the second in a series of cat quilts I did for an international quilt group called Fifteen by Fifteen. The series is based on my photo of Stripes, my tabby cat who died this year. The challenge was to use opposite colors on the color wheel to achieve an abstract effect. The quilt is made from log cabin blocks. To me, it resembles a “cat tripping in space.” The other quilts in the series are "Black and White Cat," "Complementary Colors Cat," and "Scrappy Collage Cat."

Artist Statement:	I love cats. I especially loved Stripes, my cat who used to talk to me and passed away last year. I decided to commemorate my loyal friend by basing this quilt on her image. Although Stripes was not black and white, I challenged myself to make a quilt of purely black and white fabrics for an international quilt group called Fifteen by Fifteen. The quilt was an exercise in playing with dark, medium and light values of strictly black and white prints and solid cottons. The other quilts in the series are "Abstract Cat," "Complementary Colors Cat," and "Scrappy Collage Cat."

Talkative Parrot

Artist Statement:	The Israel Quilters Association was challenged to make unique quilts from the same fat quarter of fabric. Inspired by the brightly colored fabric, which made me think of bird feathers, I went to the pet store and photographed a parrot. Guided by the fabric’s pattern, I cut feathers from the fabric and created a quilt of the parrot.
