| Artist Statement: | People and also animals have been deeply affected by the coronavirus pandemic. I wanted this layered collage portrait, which shows an elephant in captivity, who is alone and lonely, staring at the viewer from behind bars — Caged In — to raise an awareness of animal rights and the treatment of all animals by evoking shock from the viewer. |
