| Artist Statement: | “Chessmates” is a moment of connection and mastery as my son teaches my grandson chess, resulting in that magical ‘aha’ moment! This quilt captures their affection, their ease with each other and the nuance and complexity of the game. I hope my love for each of them and their connection to each other shows through in this work. This is a reminder to them of a moment in their growth together as they continue to play chess with each other. |
