I love autumn colors. I don't see them often but I am reminded of wonderful rides I took through New England during crisp October days. Seeing these leaves on the ground was the motivating force for this small quilt. The leaves were blown on a fabric canvas and this quilt was born!

I used hand-picked fabrics to cut out the leaves, which are raw-edge machine-appliqued on a background that especially made me think of gravel. I meticulously thread painted the veins on each leaf and then I machine quilted individual pebbles on the background.
