Her reflection and that of the breathtaking colors of the setting sun were reflected so clearly in the sea, it looked like a mirror. I challenged myself to express this scene of reflections in my quilt, which I called Mirror image. The white blanket was so peaceful and pure.

The design shows the skyline of New York (Neil Diamond's home) and an Irish castle from Kathryn's family roots. Photos of their life before marriage line the paths of the bride and groom that lead to a photo of the couple kissing,  framed by a diamond in the center. The date trees were hand sewn and the fence is made of yarn.
 
The quilt reveals a scene in northern Israel of Kibbutz Shluhot overlooking Mt Gilboa, which is very special to me because it reminds me of 30 years ago when I volunteered on this kibbutz. I tried to convey the quiet and serenity of the scene in my quilt. The last image is the original photo I took, upon which this quilt is based.
 
I thread painted using all different threads to embellish the piece and finally I machine quilted the layers into a magical quilt that hangs on the wall.     Exhibitions: "100 Years of Kibbutz", Israel Quilters Association

This lonely tree reminds us how much work it takes to turn a desert green. Although the Negev is home to the Dead Sea, parts of the Negev have been converted into a lively metropolis. In deference to the majestic rolling hills in the Negev, I quilted The Lonely Tree.
