Wall Hangings
Being surrounded by beauty raises people’s spirits and outlook. I try to create harmony using vibrant colors and fabric, resulting in wall hangings of places I love.
Scenes from the Fridge: Cat-scape Landscape

Our cat, Friskers, is looking at the contents of our fridge. I tried to bring out the three-dimensional quality of this scene. Can you also see all the stuff on the shelves?
I entered this miniature quilt into a challenge run by Quilting Arts Magazine called “Greatest Pet Peeve” Reader Challenge”. I thought it would be fun, since I live in a “cat house” and there are more than a few feline antics to choose from.
The final decision by Quilting Arts Magazine was that so many of the quilts they received were great, nearly all of them will be shown in the Dec/Jan issue of the magazine. So, tomorrow I will send off the quilt to the magazine and look forward to seeing Friskers in print.
Dimensions: 8 1/2 x 11″; machine quilted
Scenes from the Holy Land: Fields of Kibbutz Shluhot

The Israel Quilters Association held a quilt exhibit in May 2011 featuring the theme “100 Years of Kibbutz”. Each quilt had touch on some aspect of kibbutz life. The quilts were judged and there were several winners. Although not all the submissions were shown, 56 quilts were shown for the month of May at Beit Gavriel, a lovely hall on the south shore of the Kinneret.
I submitted a quilt for this exhibit and my work was exhibited. I based the quilt on a view of the fields of Kibbutz Shluhot, showing Mt. Gilboa in the background of the Jordan Valley. I think the view from Kibbutz Shluhot is beautiful and it reminded me of almost 30 years ago when I volunteered on the carrot factory on Kibbutz Shluhot and lived on Kibbutz Maaleh Gilboa. I tried to convey the quiet and serenity of the scene in my quilt. The quilt has a three-dimensional quality, that makes you feel you are entering the scene.

Scenes from the Holy Land: The Windy Path

There is a quiet, quaint, tree-lined path in Beit Shemesh, where I live, that leads to the main road. I walk it often because it is lined with almond trees, that are beautiful when they bloom. This piece is my rendition of that path.
I hope the photos I have included help you imagine how elegant the path would look, hung on your wall with a pretty light above it.
The back of the piece includes a sewn-in, hanging sleeve for easy wall display.

Scenes from the Holy Land: Sea of Galilee (Kinneret)

Scenes from the Holy Land: Sea of Galilee is my quilted rendition of the shores of lake Kinneret, located in the Galilee in Northern Israel. The Sea of Galilee is our main source of water and due to a severe drought water levels have been a great concern over the past few years.
This is the first of a series of Kinneret quilts I am planning. I think this part of the country is beautiful and I have tried to convey this in my quilt. I hope you too can appreciate the countryside by peering into the waters of my work. I used numerous fabrics to depict the rocks and mountains.
