Hot Plate Cover with Shooting Stars

This quilted hot plate (plata) cover with shooting star pattern is the perfect gift for you or someone you love. I use it to cover the pots on my hot plate on Friday night while heating the food for our family dinner. It keeps the warmth in and the food heats up and stays hot.
The Shooting Stars design is a quilt pattern of 6-sided stars that I applique on point on this quilted cover. It’s very pretty and makes the kitchen more festive.
The cover is machine washable and easy to care for. It is made of cotton with polyester batting, machine-pieced, and machine-quilted.

I make these covers according to your color choices. The photos shown are samples of different covers I recently gave as wedding gifts. I typically choose a dark background and coordinated colors for the pattern.

Instructions for using your hot plate cover:

* Do not use the hot plate cover over an open flame.

* Do not place the hot plate cover directly on a hotplate or its wire.

* Allow open space around the sides of the hot plate cover for air circulation.

* Wash in cold water with similar dark colors on gentle cycle.

* Hang dry. Do not dry in direct sunlight.

Challah Cover / Table Centerpiece with Watercolor Design

I made this decorative art from 120 different 2″ squares meticulously arranged from dark to light tones with a glow of yellow in the center. Two fabric “flickering candlesticks” are appliqued in the center.
The inspiration for this piece is this season of lights. The piece can be hung on the wall or used as a center piece on a table. I like to use it during our Friday-night family dinner to cover our bread (challah), though my family says it is too pretty to risk getting dirty on the table. For anyone who chooses to use it on the table, it is washable.
The piece is quilted and made of fine cotton fabrics, cotton flannel batting to give it a nice drape and gold-colored lame for the candlesticks.

Tallit Collar (Atarah)

I made this for my husband for his 50th birthday. It’s a garment he wears everyday during morning prayers and I wanted it to be a special gift.
I used a stained-glass motif for the string of 6-sided stars. Each star is pieced and trimmed with black bias. Machine-pieced and machine-quilted cotton fabric.
Can be customized according to your personal color choices.

Commissioned Torah Cover

After my oldest daughter’s bat mitzvah I contributed this gift to the women’s prayer group in our home town. That was 10 years ago and I am happy to say the cover is still being used on a weekly basis.
Machine pieced, hand appliquéd and hand and machine quilted cotton / silk / velvet fabric.
Handmade frame as well.
